  • “Personal Data” means any information relating to an identified or identifiable individual, including “personal information” as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
  • “Services” refers to the VecTrade website, applications, APIs, trading simulations, leaderboards, analytics tools, and any other products or features we offer.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

You provide data when you create an account, complete your profile, and use our Services. This includes:

  • Registration data — name, email address, and password when you create your VecTrade account.
  • Profile data — display name, bio, avatar, and any other information you choose to add to your profile.
  • Trading data — your simulated trades, portfolio positions, watchlists, and trading preferences.
  • Communications — messages you send through the platform and feedback you provide to us.
  • Payment data — if you purchase paid Services, billing information and transaction details (processed by our payment provider; we do not store full payment card numbers).

1.2 Data Collected Automatically

When you use our Services, we automatically collect certain information:

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, search queries, and interaction patterns.
  • Device data — IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and screen resolution.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — as described in our Cookie Policy.
  • Log data — server logs including access times, referral URLs, and error reports.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our Services
  • Process your simulated trades and maintain your portfolio
  • Personalise your experience (e.g., recommendations, leaderboard rankings)
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support
  • Monitor and analyse usage trends to improve the platform
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Enforce our User Agreement

We process your Personal Data on one or more of the following legal bases, depending on the context:

  • Contractual necessity — processing that is necessary to perform our contract with you (i.e., the User Agreement), such as providing account features and processing trades.
  • Legitimate interests — processing that is in our legitimate business interests (such as fraud prevention, platform improvement, and security), provided those interests are not overridden by your rights. We balance our interests against your data protection rights before relying on this basis.
  • Legal obligation — processing that is necessary for us to comply with a legal obligation, such as responding to lawful requests from authorities or meeting tax and accounting requirements.
  • Consent — where you have given us specific consent to process your data for a particular purpose, such as receiving marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • Public profile and activity — your display name, avatar, and trading statistics may be visible to other Members on leaderboards and trader profiles, depending on your settings.
  • Service providers — we share data with trusted third-party providers who help us operate our Services (e.g., hosting, analytics, payment processing). These providers are bound by data processing agreements and confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose data if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers — if VecTrade is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
  • With your consent — we may share data in other ways if you give us specific permission.

5. Your Choices and Rights

You have the following rights regarding your Personal Data, subject to applicable law:

  • Access and portability — request a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format.
  • Correction — update or correct inaccurate Personal Data through your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated Personal Data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Restriction — request that we restrict the processing of your Personal Data in certain circumstances.
  • Objection — object to our processing of your Personal Data where we rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis.
  • Opt out of communications — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in each email or through your notification settings.
  • Cookie preferences — manage your cookie settings as described in our Cookie Policy.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact form. We will verify your identity before processing your request and respond within 30 days (or the period required by applicable law).

6. Data Retention

We retain your Personal Data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our Services. We also retain data as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When your data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your Personal Data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+), hashed and salted passwords, role-based access controls, and regular security audits. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your VecTrade account.

8. International Data Transfers

VecTrade operates globally, and your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than the country in which you reside (including Australia and the United States). When we transfer data internationally, we implement appropriate safeguards — such as standard contractual clauses or binding corporate rules — to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Policy and applicable data protection laws.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us at contact form.

10. Jurisdiction-Specific Provisions

Australia

“Personal Data” includes “personal information” as defined under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as amended from time to time. If you are an Australian resident and dissatisfied with our handling of any complaint you raise under this Policy, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you are located in the EEA or UK and believe our processing of your Personal Data is not compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. When we transfer data outside the EEA/UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through our Services or by other means before the changes take effect. The “Effective” date at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of our Services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
